It’s been about a year and a half since I launched this website. It’s been a fun ride so far, even I’ve struggled to write much the last six months. Life got in the way. Thankfully, music, friends and a few dear hounds were there for me.
I’m back to working on what I intended for this site: to promote and celebrate all of the incredible music and art locally and globally.
While I’ve traveled the world the last 18 months in pursuit of one band in particular, I’m thankful for all of the music that makes up the soundtrack of our lives. I had originally intended to include a music calendar, but until a few days ago, that link, reachable on the left bar, was dead.
No longer. Here’s a quick link to it.
I intend to post weekly on upcoming shows and additions to the calendar.
On that front, this week has some options in the Twin Cities area. Ginstrings (which has been inactive in recent years) bandmates Gavin Haskin and Eli Bentley will be at Dark Horse in St. Paul starting at 6 p.m. tonight.
Legendary Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant and Alison Kraus play Mystic Amphitheater in Prior Lake on Friday.
On Saturday, over at the Green Room, Latin psychedelic band Caballo Cosmico opens for Shoeless Revolution. Guitarist Javier Trejo and Frogleg keyboardist Kevin Dorsey are members of Caballo Cosmico.
If you’re up for a drive up to Grand Rapids, Festival Rialto on Saturday features two Duluth favorites of mine: Charlie Parr and Feeding Leroy.
Reggae legend Burning Spear will be appearing at First Avenue on Sunday night.
A number of shows of note were announced recently, including Daniel Donato’s gig at First Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and a dual headline of Jon Sullivan Band and Twine at Icehouse on Friday, July 12.
If you know of a show that should be included on the calendar, please email details to jaminthestream@gmail.com
