Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, a British heavy psych band, is covering their 2024 LP Nell’ Ora Blu in its entirety at Saint Paul’s Fitzgerald Theater Wednesday. Jonathan Hultén is on the bill in support, and the show starts at 8 p.m.
The show tops Jam in the Stream’s list of live music picks this week in Minnesota.
The album title translates to “the blue hour,” and it’s a tribute to Italian cinema. In fact, the album is 78 minutes long, and tells a tale of crime and horror.
Here’s an excellent review of the album. It goes into further detail about the project.
Fans of King Gizzard’s In Your Mind Fuzz may really dig the blue hour.
Hence, I’m going to make the best effort myself to get over to the Fitz’ Wednesday night.
I’ll point out the two jam residencies going on right now — Twine at Bunkers Wednesday nights starting at 9 p.m. ($8 cover) and, in the month of February, Saltydog at Bent Paddle Brewing’s Cosmic Lounge in Duluth Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. That latter show is free. There’s a special guest every week, and Kathryne Ford is bringing Liquid Light, a psychedelic art display every week.
On Thursday, Bent Paddle in Duluth hosts eerie folk project Superior Siren from 7 to 9 p.m.. This show is also free.
On Friday, Jay Bee & The Routine bring the soul-funk to Bunkers from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is a $12 cover.
There’s a couple of shows happening Saturday in Minneapolis I’ll mention: Good Morning Bedlam with The People Brothers Band at Uptown’s Green Room. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $17 plus fees in advance. Also, Stringdingers and Buffalo Galaxy have a gig at Day Block Brewing downtown starting at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $10.
