For the past several months, Minneapolis jam-funk band TWINE has revived the ole’ Wednesday night residency tradition.
And last week was a special one at Bunkers in North Loop: it fell on the birthday of frontman Will Effertz.
There was a long list of special guests, including Feed the Dog guitarist Jon Miller, Curvy X vocalist Brionna Monai, Greater Goods guitarist Aaron Pederson, sound man Gage Schmitt on flute, Jon Sullivan Band guitarist Alex Gelking and The Here Afters bassist Josh Maxwell. Hopefully I am not missing anybody.
I took some pictures, as I often do each Wednesday. TWINE has been bringing high-level improvisation every week.
Tonight’s show is apparently the last one with Jon Ross on the drum kit. He’s filled in admirably for John Hansen, who returns next week after taking time off from music (he also drums for Jon Sullivan Band) to be with his family following the birth of his newborn son.
