Duluth’s Saltydog brought some of their magic to Minneapolis’ psychedelic Zen Arcade/Mission Room in the first of four Thursday shows in March.
The band played two sets, opening up the show covering The Big Wu’s “Minnesota Moon.”
But they also drew heavily from their own catalog of originals in both sets, the second of which they were joined by TWINE frontman Will Effertz, who delivered vocals on a very nice cover of J.J. Cale’s “Ride Me High.”
Saltydog has a special guest planned each week, and next Wednesday the Mahon brothers, Jacob and Owen, will reciprocate and sit in with TWINE next week at the band’s weekly Wednesday night residency at Bunkers in Minneapolis’ North Loop.
For a couple of years now, the kind folks of Duluth have had the pleasure of catching this righteous young band in a series of Monday night residency shows at Bent Paddle Brewing, The most recent of these was at the brewery’s indoor Cosmic Stage during the month of February.
Thanks to The Hook and Ladder, Minneapolis gets to feel the love and power these skilled improvisers bring to their live performances.
