The third installment of Saltydog’s Thursday nights residency at The Zen Arcade ushered in some hip hop.
The Duluth jam band has been playing two sets during the residency: the first with its six-man lineup, and the second with a special guest.
This week, it was Cold Sweat of Hiahli, a band with both Minneapolis and Fargo, N.D., connections.
Cold Sweat, aka Ryan Tetzloff, is both an emcee and dj/turntablist. He did drop some rhymes on one song during the set, bust mostly, he was attempting to tastefully add some record scratching and sampling to Saltydog’s sound.
The band has one more Thursday left in the residency, with Duluth’s Boss Mama (Colleen Myhre) sitting in.
Here’s some pictures from last night’s gig.
