It’s going to be a great week of live music in Minnesota, thanks in part to the Great Minnesota Get Together aka the Minnesota State Fair.
But this week’s options are not limited to the state fair.
First off is TWINE, which is headlining 7th Street Entry Wednesday. Dream of the Wild and KG4 are opening in support for TWINE, a jamband that has quickly gotten a reputation for high-energy jams.
Mikel Wright & the Wrongs play Bunkers in North Loop Saturday. Don’t miss that one.
And Icehouse is hosting Jerryapolis, a tribute to Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead with guitarist Javier Trejo, keyboardist Kevin Dorsey, multi-instrumentalist Martin Dosh and drummer JT Bates.
Now, for the fair:
The New Primitives play the International Bazaar Stage Thursday and Friday. For set times, head to my calendar page here.
Mae Simpson plays Saturday and Sunday at Schell’s Stage at Schilling Amphitheater. Click the above calendar link for set times. High & Rising also plays the same stage Saturday and Sunday. Again, see my calendar for set times.
This week, I’ll mention a trio of shows that were recently announced.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, aka JRAD, gets high praise among Dead heads as the top Dead cover band at the time, including, some say, Dead & Co., which has been reduced down to two surviving members of the Grateful Dead.
JRAD will be playing its first gig in the Twin Cities at the Palace Theatre on Dec. 7. Joe Russo will also be playing with the Selcouth Quartet at Icehouse on Sept. 12.
lespecial is playing Amsterdam Bar Nov. 7.
And Dogs in a Pile return to the Twin Cities with a gig at Fine Line Nov. 13
